Makeup Area tour/ Makeup Collection

I have been dreaming for my own ultimate vanity. My makeup collection has grown so much in the past year that I really needed a way to organize it. As soon as I moved into my new place I have been brainstorming my dream vanity.

I started out with an Ikea magazine of course. I love Ikea. As soon as I laid eyes on these shelves I knew this is what I wanted. It all just came to me after that. I decided I wanted a nice clean mirror long to see everything. Of course, lights! Lots of lights all around the mirror. Before I got this ultimate vanity I used to use the sunlight way early in the morning. I used to try and rush to finish my makeup before 8:30 am because that was around the time started to rise high and it would completely blind me. I definitely needed some good lights. I went on a big Ikea trip and bought everything I needed all at once. I got the lights just as I envisioned them. I got the perfect long mirror and I got the shelves.

I admit I procrastinated a bit because I installed everything about 3-4 days after my Ikea trip but I am so happy with the outcome. After installing the setup like I wanted it next came a little more procrastination until I finally organized everything.

Here are pictures of my setup and with it comes a little bit of a makeup collection as well. This makeup is my favorite products by the way. I have more makeup that I use in my makeup kit for clients. There's no reason to display that stuff.

Anyway here's the photos:

Weekly Inspiration Finds.

This is one of those posts where I repeat every week different inspirational pictures I come across. Whenever I do my makeup or nails I first skim thru lots of different pictures and find ones that inspire me to create a look. I'm more referring to makeup other then my eveyrday makeup style. When I want to go a little crazy I take inspiration from amazing makeup artists.

I have to say my absolute favorite makeup brand is MAC cosmetics! They're eyeshadow is so blendable that I don't know why I tried any other eyeshadow. I still buy other brands now and then but my first choice is always MAC. I also love the different lipstick choices they have. I just have nothing bad to say about MAC.

Here are some pictures I came across and found inspirational. (most are screenshots from my instagram)

Museum of the Moving Image

I checked out this museum a couple of days ago and I had a ton of fun. I was itching for some inspiration, some knowledge, something new. I browsed the Time Out NY website for a list of museums and the Museum of the Moving Image caught my eye.

I've never been and I've only heard about it from a handful of people. So I decided to troop it in this blistering NYC cold and see what this museum is all about.

NEW* NEW* NEW*

Yes, all new everything! I recently followed some new blogs and got inspired to change my blog look completely. I'm not yet done with it but this is just the start of it. I have brainstormed lots in the last few days and there's so many new things coming. I am excited to announce these new things I have in the works. But not yet. Not until every idea is well executed will I finally announce this.

I am going to pretty much use this time to bring this blog up to date. (list form)

New Year's Eve

Ah.. New Year's Eve. A night of saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the fresh and new. Up until this year it has been a family event where I spend the night with my family and ring in the New Year at home. Not this year. This year I worked.

I wasn't going to work but they kind of needed me there. The party was sold out and it was packed! I have to admit I had a LOT of fun working that night. The customers were great and the night was full of serious fun!

Winter is for...

HIBERNATION! That's where I've been for the last month.

Forgive me-

I have decided to make this post an update sort of.

For the last month I have worked more then ever. I have a million different jobs. I like to keep busy and the only way I can do that is with two jobs and two big hobbies on the side. I might need to make some room for blogging so I can keep up.

I am in the process of looking for a new bartending job. I love where I work right now but as always there's certain obstacles which I can't seem to ignore. I work at Galapagos Art Space in Dumbo, Brooklyn. It's a wonderful job. Every Saturday they have burlesque / cabaret shows and it's just a whole lot of fun. I have fun working, I must say.

I also have been getting more and more requests to do makeup for different occasions. I'm glad seeing as I have no formal training. I am thinking about posting some of my makeup looks and doing Face of the Day posts.

I also have kept up with my photography - not so much my editing. I have so many photos to edit. I will get to it soon.

Also in the past month I have moved into a new apartment! YAY! I left the best news for last. Yes that was what took up most of my month but I'm so happy with the outcome. I am going to dedicate an area in the apartment for photoshoots. I will now have access anytime to a studio setting. This is awesome!

I will end this post with saying how EXCITED I am for a New Year! I never really look at January 1st as a "fresh start" or anything like that but this year it seems a little more special than previous years. I am finally in my own apartment and I can finally create studio type photos without have to travel to a studio. I have finally created my website and business cards all in the last month! I am ready to take on January 1st as a fully functional one woman business and also continue to work two jobs to maintain my apartment and hobbies. ^_^
